Sound Healing for Better Sleep: How Sound Healing can Tune Into Your Inner Harmony

Do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep at night? When I am feeling stresed, anxious or overwhelmed it totally effects my sleep cycle. When I am on the first day of my cycle or any time around a full or new moon my sleep goes out the window too. According to the European Sleep Research Society, insomnia afflicts in a chronic fashion probably more than 10% of the European population and probably is the most frequent sleep disorder. Insomnia can have negative effects on your physical and mental health, such as increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression and anxiety.

That's where sound healing comes in and where sound healing was my life when the pandemic hit. I would lie wide awake at night time trying to solve the worries of the world and the stresses of transitioning into an online business . My mind decided to break down these problems at around 1am in the morning and I would be awake for hours. No amount of sheep counting could get me to fall asleep, until I discovered online virtual sound bath meditations.

Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses different types of sounds, such as music, singing, chanting, toning, or instruments, to create vibrations that affect your brain waves, nervous system, and energy field. Sound healing can help you achieve a state of deep relaxation, which is essential for falling asleep and staying asleep.

In my opinion the most effective forms of sound healing is using crystal alchemy bowls. These are specially crafted bowls made of quartz crystal and infused with different metals, minerals, or gemstones. My bowls are infused with platinum, ruby, charcoal, rose quartz and so many more beautiful metals and crystals. As a Dublin based sound healer, I am surrounded by nature, and all these natural elements are so important to my own sound healing pratice. Each bowl produces a unique frequency and tone that resonates with a specific chakra or energy center in your body. The crystal bowls can create such a dreamy harmonious sound bath that balances your chakras and aligns your energy and transforts your to another place. Sound healing using crystal alchemy bowls in a virtual soundbath can help you with sleep in several ways.

First, it can lower your stress levels and calm your nervous system, which are often the main causes of insomnia. Second, it can stimulate the production of melatonin, the hormone that regulates your sleep cycle. Third, it can entrain your brain waves to shift from beta (alert) to alpha (relaxed) to theta (dreaming) to delta (deep sleep) states. Fourth, it can clear any emotional or energetic blockages that may prevent you from sleeping well.

If you want to try sound healing for better sleep, plug in your headphones and try a ten minute free virtual sound bath here using the sounds and frequencies of my crystal alchemy bowls. You can also listen to recordings of sound healing music here or join my vurtual sound healing membership.

Another thing you can do to improve your sleep is to practice good sleep hygiene. This means following some simple habits that promote healthy sleep, such as:

- Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.

- Use essential oil before bed. I adore using Ilapothecary Pulse point oil “Beat the blues” roller and room spray before bed.

- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and other stimulants in the evening. They can interfere with your sleep quality and duration. I always sip on a ginger tea before bedtime.

- Turn off all app on your phone that you find highly stiulating at least an hour before bedtime. The blue light they emit can suppress melatonin production and keep you awake. I also use blue ligh glasses and change the settings on my phone in the evenings.

- Make your bedroom comfortable, dark, quiet, and cool. Use curtains, blinds, earplugs, fans, or air conditioners to create an optimal sleeping environment.

- I am OBSESSED with my weighted blanket and I use ESPA weighted blanket, I chose the 7kg one. I lay it over my legs and it calms my nervous system before I drop into a virtual sound bath in bed.

- Relax before bed. Do something that helps you unwind and release tension, such as reading, meditating, a virtual sound bath, listening to soothing music, or doing some gentle yoga.
